Yes, you can.
A degree might increase your expertise or your chances to get an interview but you can learn UX by yourself as well.
I would recommend to start by:
1. Reading books about UX design.
2. Follow all blogs and newsletters you can, UX Stack Exchange. Follow accounts in all your social media including Twitter and Instagram. Follow hashtags as well
3. Making sure you can efficiently use some design tools (I would probably now start with Figma although haven't used it myself) or Sketch, Adobe XD can be learnt super fast as well and it's free.
